CHEMLSFORD, ON – The Rayside-Balfour Canadians have acquired right handed shooting Defenceman Bryce O’Brien (Belle River, ON) from the Brantford 99’ers of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

The Belle River native began the season with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL where he made 15 appereances this hockey season.  O’Brien will add size to the Canadians blueline as he is 6’5 and 220 lbs. O’Brien is the third member of the teams blueline to be over 6’4 as Karson Massey is 6’6 and Dakotah Woods 6’5 and is the teams second shooting right handed defenceman as Andre Frappier also shoots right.

O’Brien was also a teammate and defence partner of current Canadian Dakotah Woods last season in Quebec.

Franchise Owner Adrian Gedye had to say about O’Brien in a Hockey News North article, “He’s got great feet for a big guy and he’s got a cannon of a shot,”  “We feel that he is under-rated offensively. We know what he will bring to us as a big, physical presence”

Canadians fans can see O’Brien in action as the Espanola Express come to the Chelmsford Community Centre on Saturday January 15th for a 7:00 pm puck drop.
