(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Rayside Balfour Canadians achieved their sixth straight win Thursday night at home against the Espanola Express with a final score of 6-2.
Mathieu Dokis-Dupuis scored the first goal of the game to get the home side on the score board, with Joel Mongeon drawing the lone assist. Jett Leishman kicked off the second period by scoring 34 seconds in, with Brady Maltais and rookie Oliver Smith assisting on the goal. Espanola got one back Matais Salem scoring Espanola’s first goal before the second was completed.
The Canadians extended their lead with another two goals from Mitchell Martin, followed by a goal from Sudbury Wolves prospect Nick DeGrazia wrapping up the second period with a shorthanded goal with only 12 seconds left. Zachary Hauseman secured the final goal of the game in the third period, bringing the Canadians to yet another victory.
The Canadians will look to continue their winning streak when they close off their three-game week in Kirkland Lake, facing off against the Gold Miners on Saturday at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex. The Gold Miners are hoping for a home victory after losses to the Hearst Lumberjacks and the Timmins Rock, both games finishing at 3-2.
