The Rayside Balfour Canadians have extended their winning streak to four after taking the win against the Soo Thunderbirds on Sunday 3-2.
The Canadians opened up scoring in the first period as Brady Maltais found the back of the net, the goal assisted by Mathieu Dokis-Dupuis. The teams played neck and neck throughout the game as the Thunderbirds claimed their first goal in the second period, but the Canadians didn’t wait and Gio Biondi fought back with another goal. The teams were once again tied shortly after, but the Canadians came back strong and Matthew Belanger scored the game winner.
The Rayside Balfour Canadians honoured Police, Firefighters, Paramedics and Corrections during the game. These four organizations contribute to our personal and our family safety each and every day. The Police, the Paramedics, the Firefighters and our Corrections officers, all have the challenging task of taking care of all of us, especially when we are in need, while often placing themselves in serious danger each and every time they report to work. We thank them for all they do for the Greater City of Sudbury!
The Canadians will face off against the Soo Thunderbirds once again on Wednesday December 4th as they travel to the John Rhodes Community Centre. They’ll continue on with their busy week as they return home to host the Espanola Express on Thursday December 5th, and hit the road to play the Elliot Lake Wildcats on Friday.
