Degrazia Named to Team Canada East for 2019 World Junior A Challenge

(Calgary, AB) Wednesday afternoon, Hockey Canada announced their roster for the 2019 World Junior A Challenge in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, December 7-15.

Of the 22 players named, two players were named from the NOJHL including Rayside Jr. A Canadians rookie forward Nick DeGrazia.

The six-foot, 170 pound forward from Thunder Bay, ON currently leads the Canadians with 27 points through 24 games this season. The first-year Canadian currently sits fifteenth in league scoring and first in scoring among league rookies with 13 goals and 14 assists.

“On behalf of the Canadians we would like to congratulate Nick on being named to Team Canada East,” said General Manager Jeff Forsyth. “Nick has showcased his exceptional abilities on the ice in his rookie season and has become an impact player for us. We know he will represent our country with pride and we are proud to see him rewarded for his efforts.”

DeGrazia was drafted fourteenth overall in the first round of the 2019 OHL U18 Priority Selection by the Sudbury Wolves from the Thunder Bay Kings program. In three games with the OHL Wolves this season, DeGrazia has one goal and one assist.

DeGrazia and the Canadians will be back in action Thursday at the Chelmsford Arena when they host the Elliot Lake Wildcats. Game time is 7:00 p.m.. Tickets are available at the door for $12 per adult, $10 for seniors and $8 for students. Children 7 and under are admitted free of charge.

The Canadians organization wish the entire Team Canada East players and staff the best in Dawson Creek, BC when they begin the tournament on December 5.
