The Rayside Balfour Canadians fell short of the victory at home against the Espanola Express Thursday night with a close score of 3-2.
The Espanola Express took the lead in the first period with two goals, maintaining a score of 2-0 all the way through until the final period, where they gained an additional point. But the Canadians came back strong in the final minutes of the third period, where Mathieu Dokis-Dupuis claimed two back-to-back goals to put the Canadians on the scoreboard. The Canadians fought hard in the last few minutes of the game. The Canadians were given a penalty shot just eight seconds before the end of the period, but fell to the Express in a close game.
The Rayside Balfour Canadians will close off the week in Espanola, where they will face the Express on Friday for the second night in a row at 7:30pm. They’ll begin next week with another home game, hosting the Elliot Lake Wildcats on Thursday at 7pm.
