Canadians defeat Beavers back-to-back

The Rayside Balfour Canadians skated to victory at home against the Blind River Beavers Sunday night with a final score of 2-1.

The Canadians defeated the Beavers for the second straight night, after winning in Blind River the previous night at the Blind River Community Centre. The Canadians took the lead just one minute into the game, with Gavin Brown finding the back of the net. Zacharie Giroux and Ben Hatanaka drew the assists on the opening goal. Rayside extended their lead when Dylan Bertrand put one past the Beavers goaltender, off a great pass by Matthew Belanger. Carson McMillan drew the second assist as the Canadians closed out the first period up two. The Blind River Beavers fought to catch the Canadians in the second period by scoring their first and only goal, but the Canadians held on the rest of the way thanks to solid goaltending by newcomer Cameron Lamour.

The Canadians will continue another busy week at home as they host the Soo Eagles on Thursday night and the Soo Thunderbirds on Sunday night, where they’re looking to achieve back-to-back wins.

Season tickets are still on sale for the 2019-20 Canadians season. Fans are encouraged to email Brittany at for more info.
