Adrian Gedye - President/Owner/GM
This will be Adrian's second season as President/ Owner/GM of the Canadians. Adrian has a long history in hockey as a coach, manager and trainer from house league to Jr A. He is the Ontario Player Agent/Family Adviser for Uptown Hockey Inc and works with players and their family's from Minor Midget to the NHL. Adrian developed Sudbury first established Minor Midget Program. In it's first year, the program saw six players drafted to the OHL, two of which including his son Tyler Bertuzzi, have gone on to sign NHL Contracts. Adrian has a wife Mia and three sons Tyler, Evan and Mathew as well as a Husky, Molly. He enjoys fishing, Mountain biking and family time when not at the rink.
Associate Coach - Steve Lauzon
Steve is entering his first season as Associate Coach with the Canadians. He works with the forwards and is in charge of special teams play also. Previously Steve was an assistant coach with the NOJHL's Sudbury Jr Wolves. In 2007 Steve helped guide the Jr Wolves to a Dudley Hewitt Cup where they lost to in the championship game to the Fort William North Stars in double overtime. He has also been a longtime AAA Head coach for both the Wolves and Nickel City programs. In the summer Steve runs a Player Development Company, Premier Athlete Development, that works on ice with Midget, Junior, OHL and QMJHL Players. In his spare time he likes to fish in his backyard of Lake Wanatapei
Assistant General Manager - Grant Trayner
Grant is entering his fourth year with the franchise and is the only member of management with the organization from their time in Copper Cliff. Grant has experience working with the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Big Nickel International Hockey Tournament and with the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum. He is currently in the final year of his Bachelor or Commerce in Sports Administration at Laurentian University
Head Scout and Director of Scouting - Zack Schipper
Zack Schipper enters his 2nd year as the Head Scout of the Rayside Balfour Canadians. Zack earned an Honours degree in Sport Management from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. He has also studied at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. He is currently a Player Scout with both Uptown Hockey Inc and Neutral Zone. His ability to scout and develop elite young hockey players has led to numerous individuals progressing to the Major Junior and the NCAA level of their hockey careers. Zack works tirelessly scouting and recruiting throughout the province to bring the Rayside Canadians organization elite talent.
Assistant Coach - Vagelli Sakellaris
This was Vagelli's first season coaching in the NOJHL and with the Canadians. Vagelli played for the franchise in its first year when it was known as the Sudbury Northern Wolves in 2000-01. Last season Vagelli coached the Sudbury Peewee AAA Wolves to a provincial birth and a NOHL final. Vagelli previously has been an assistant coach with the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves Midget AAA where he has been to two Telus Cups and won 2008 Championship. Vagelli has a wife Tara, and two sons. He is a teacher at Lasalle Secondary School in Sudbury. You may see him time to time assisting at the Applo Resturant on the Kingsway.
Assistant Coach - Clayton Bertrand
Clayton joins our coaching staff with over 15 years coaching experience at a number of different levels. He has experience with the Under-17 Hockey Canada program for two years as a selection coach with the OMHA. He also spent three years with the GMHL as an assistant/associate coach with the Rama Aces and Oro-Medonte 77’s. He has an outstanding passion for the game and we look forward to him bring this to our team. Clayton has been married for 25 years to Christine and has three kids Zak, Amanda and TJ. He is also a Sales Manager for Molson Coors in Northern Ontario for the past 21 years.
